Before watching The True Cost documentary in college, I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t the most eco-conscious fashion shopper.

However, the documentary opened my eyes to the importance of practicing sustainability. Non-eco-friendly clothing not only affects the environment, but the factory workers who are paid approximately $60/month to produce the garments under harsh working conditions (look up “The Rana Plaza Tragedy”)

Therefore, I am trying to make an effort to purchase more sustainable fashion. One way that I have been doing so (without even realizing it) is by going to thrift stores or as my mom, aunt, and I would call, “The Couture Store.” 😂

Buying secondhand items is the main way that I reduce my carbon footprint. So, when Material World reached out to me to try their personal styling service offering pre-owned authentic designer items, I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity! One item that I received are the Fendi Galassia  Marble Block Sunglasses that I’m wearing in these pictures. I love them! 💕 My Jou Jou Plaid Moto Jacket (pictured) is secondhand as well.

How are you taking part in sustainable fashion?
